Mexican Killer may have returned to United StatesApril 25, 2010 ILLINOIS FUGITIVE NEWS -- George Martinez is sought by Elgin Illinois Police Department for the killing of 16-year-old Jaime Benitez on October 31, 2008. In early February of 2010 a provisional arrest request was made to Mexican authorities with the assistance of the US Marshals Service to find this suspected murderer. However, it was determined that Martinez may no longer be in Mexico. Therefore, he may have returned to the United States. Allegedly, George Martinez shot Benitez during a gang related fight outside a home having a Halloween party in the 500 block of Douglas Avenue. When Elgin police responded to the crime scene, Officers found the victim shot in the back, lying on the ground a block from the party. Elgin Fire and Rescue transported Benitez to Sherman Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA). Meanwhile, a second victim was injured in the fight. He went to the hospital on his own accord. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released.
