A former security guard for the Ferndale Public School District, Darius Martice McCrary is sought by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for the murder of 38-year-old Fredericka Dixon at her residence in the Leggett Farm neighborhood in Ferndale. photo According to Oakland County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 8:30 p.m. on November 25, 2010, Investigators responded to a location on Westview Ave in Royal Oak Township, that location being Fredericka Dixon's residence, which falls under the jurisdiction of Oakland County Sheriff's Office. Upon arrival, Investigators discovered Fredericka Dixon non-respondent with gunshot wounds to her abdomen. Investigators performed CPR until Emergency Medical Technicians arrived, both failed to revive the victim. Fredericka Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene, and Investigators immediately began treating the crime as a homicide. McCrary, Dixon and her three children lived together until 2007, when the couple separated. McCrary had no biological connection to the children. Dixon began to date and move on with her life. However, McCrary stayed obsessed with the woman. Furthermore, learning of the existence of another man in Dixon's life angered McCrary, and within recent weeks he was said to have threatened Dixon with violence. According to witnesses and Dixon's 18-year-old son, who was purportedly standing near his mother when Darius Martice McCrary shot the woman, McCrary had gone to the Westview Ave duplex, kicked in the door, and immediately opened fire hitting the mother. McCrary then attempted to murder the son, but he ran out of the apartment. McCrary chased the son, firing at him. However, McCrary's gunshots missed the son allowing him time to escape. Darius Martice McCrary has a criminal history dating back to when he was a juvenile. Convictions include two property thefts, uttering and publishing, and an unarmed robbery at age 13. Additionally, McCrary was employed by the Ferndale Public School District as a Security Guard for the Grant Early Childhood center in Ferndale.
