Fugitive suspected of committing double murder and armed robbery home invasionJuly 3, 2010 LOWELL MA FUGITIVE -- On June 18, 2010, the United States Marshal Service in Tampa, Florida, has arrested Karon McDougal, a fugitive evading arrest for the shooting death of two brothers during a home invasion in Lowell Massachusetts. Four other accomplices in the murder have already been arrested and arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court on January 8, 2010. Those defendants are currently being held in custody without bail.
On October 23, 2009, Lowell Police responded to reports of shots fired at 7 Marshall Terrace in Lowell. Upon arrival, Officers found Hector Delgado, 37, and his younger brother, Luis Delgado, 34 suffering from gun shot wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital, but later died of their wounds. Witness accounts, cell phone records, ballistics, and forensic evidence obtained by investigators after the murders identified the following five men as the alleged killers:
It is further alleged that victims were shot during an armed home invasion and robbery of the Delgado home. Additionally, all five men are charge with two counts of murder in the first degree and armed home invasion. Jamal McDougal, Hernandez, and Brown are also charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition. All were ordered held without bail. Lastly, the Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said, "I commend the United States Marshal Service for their diligent, collaborative work in apprehending this wanted and dangerous man." Attorney Leone further expressed Karon McDougal is expected to be extradited to Massachusetts where he will be arraigned on charges of murder. He is scheduled for trial on January 3, 2011. |
