RENO NV FUGITIVE NEWS -- Miguel Antonio Padron is most wanted for allegedly shooting and killing a 50-year-old mother, Esther Ramirez and wounding her 24-year-old son, Bruno, in Reno, Nevada. Motive for the shooting is believed to have stemmed from the son's past gang-related activities. Apparently, Padron, a.k.a. "Spirit" a member of the Brown Pride Locos, recognized the son and took retaliation. However, according to Regional Gang Unit, the son had been an inactive gangbanger for at least three years.

On July 25, 2009, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Esther Ramirez was on her way to meet Bruno for dinner. The two were driving in separate cars, when they stopped at a 7-Eleven convenience store located on the corner of Neil Road and Peckham Lane. When her son went inside the store to pay for his fuel, he was approached by Padron and two other gang members. Leaving the store in an attempt to return to his vehicle, Bruno was followed by the men. When he reached his vehicle, the men once again confronted him. Attempting to diffuse the situation, Esther Ramirez placed herself between her son and the thugs. Nonetheless, Padron then opened fire with a handgun shooting both the woman and her son. Esther Ramirez tragically died at the scene, while Bruno recovered from the gunshot wound to his chest.

Reno Police, the State of Nevada, and the FBI have been searching for Padron since he was charged on July 28, 2009, with murder, attempted murder with use of a firearm, and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. Padron was initially charged on July 28, 2009, with a state arrest warrant issued by the Justice Court of Reno Township, in District of Washoe County, Nevada. Then on August 7, 2009, a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court, District of Nevada for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. The FBI also believes he may have fled to Tijuana, Mexico, or Sinaloa, Mexico. Although if Miguel Antonio Padron is outside the country, he may decide to return to the United States.

Miguel Antonio Padron is described as:

  • Birth Date: December 30, 1986
  • Height: 66 inches
  • Weight: 130 pounds
  • Eyes: Brown
  • Hair: Black
  • Sex: Male

Meanwhile, in another gang related killing in the Reno Metropolitan, the Secret Witness program is offering $2,500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the killer of a 17-year-old Elvin Beltran of Cold Springs, a suburb of Reno, Nevada. According to witnesses, On December 5, 2009, Elvin Beltran was shot during a fight at a party in the 1700 block of C Street in Sparks, Nevada. Police responding to the shooting found Elvin Beltran lying on the sidewalk in front of a private residence at 1725 C Street. Purportedly, approximately 25 juveniles attended the party, and numerous vehicles were seen leaving the area after the shooting.

Elvin Beltran was visibly proud of his Surenos gang affiliation. However, I can't help wonder if Beltran would reconsider giving his life for the Surenos. Was it really worth the notoriety? Personally, I would much rather spend my time pounding the streets for a job than risk my life to be shot in the name of the Surenos.
